SMAA December Art Show

I was recently entered in the South Mississippi Art Association's 33rd annual show. All three of my paintings placed! I won first place for Oils with "Red Shoes" 24x18". I also won first in pastels with "Hot Stuff", 18x24", and third place with "Twilight" 26x13".
Judges comments :
1st place "Red Shoes" - This painting has it all - content, composition, craftsmanship! Beautifully done!
1st place "Hot Stuff" - This piece has a superb composition and handling of the medium! A painting made with pastel! The use of black in the background forces the viewer to focus on the subject matter which is the only real and important thing. The red/green palette combined with just the right greys (neutrals) just makes it all work!
3rd place "Twilight" - A true classical use of pastel - masterful use of light - giving this piece a definite "time and "place".

Painting A Day
I'm considering doing a painting a day starting in 2010. With the family I don't know how successful I will be but I think it would be fun to try, as well as an exercise on dividing my time between family and art. As of this year, I've been able to spend several hours a week painting. One of the reasons for trying daily painting is to learn to devote more time to creating as well as to become a better artist.
There have been several artist's blogs that I have followed, this past year, and thought to myself "That would be a fun challenge that I could do". I don't know if painting a day will produce a painting a day, rather than just making a point to paint every day.
So, for the rest of this month I am going to gather the items needed and set up a table in my studio devoted to daily painting.
